About
Creative writing and the intricate world and character building it inspires has always been my deepest passion. This love of the art of creative storytelling led me to want to help others tell their stories by pursuing work in the world of publishing. My goal is to one day work in the writing or publishing departments for either DC or Marvel comics, as these publishers are what initially sparked my interest in the field with their multifaceted characters and well-developed, original worlds. However, I also look forward to working with publishers who specialize in Fiction and Creative Nonfiction novels.
Since the start of my undergraduate career, I have taken many classes to cultivate my writing prowess, such as creative writing, advanced fiction, advanced creative nonfiction, and various others. As a result, I have written a plethora of works that make up an extensive writer’s portfolio in all disciplines in these classes. I have also worked as the senior editorial assistant for the North Carolina Literary Review and an editor on The Lookout: A Journal of Undergraduate Research, both of which operate out of East Carolina University. These internships were key in introducing me to the world of publishing and showed me that this is truly what I want to do with my life. In addition, both internships taught me important aspects of the publishing process such as copy editing, web design, InDesign, page layout and format, merchandising at events, maintaining a social media presence, how to email authors, request photos, make captions for photos, indexing, create a table of contents, and various other technical details.

Returning to NCLR, I picked up many of my old responsibilities at the publication. However, during this time we were struck with the COVID-19 Pandemic and had to make a quick transition to an online format. During this time, I helped orchestrate three online virtual readings to help promote our upcoming issues and was promoted to reflect my dedication and hard work for the publication. These readings were the first of their kind in NCLR history and were well received, gaining the publication accolades from our department chair and a sense of community during those uncertain times.
